Abba

A guy in my team? His family just adopted their foster kids today. Adoption makes me want to cry.

Seriously. I want to cry my eyeballs out when I think about it. Think about it! No one wants you. You’re alone, frightened, and scared. You’ve been passed from arm to arm, never loved, never have belonged to anyone.

I’ve never belonged to anyone. Not really.

~ Anne of Green Gables

And then, one day, someone enters your life. They hug you when you cry, they kiss your owies, they tuck you in at night. Something warm is blooming in your chest. A new feeling. It’s … love. They love you.

The day comes when you’re standing before a judge. Even if your almost family doesn’t show it, they’re nervous. They want the judge to okay the adoption. They want you to be theirs. And the gavel falls as the judge pronounces you apart of this family.

And that’s the moment they become Daddy and Mommy.

How amazing! You belong now! Someone wants you! You’ll never be alone, you’ll never be abandoned. You’re part of a forever family.

♡♡♡

Even if you’ve never been physically adopted, hopefully you’ve been spiritually adopted into God’s forever family.

He’s the judge that sent His son to bring you into His family. To hang on a cross and die was the adoption fee. And Jesus willing paid it.

He wants to be your big brother. He wants His father – His Abba – to be yours. He wants to hug you close and tell you thay everything will work out for your good; dear one, Daddy’s got it under control.

And on that day, when we’re judged by the King of Kings, He will open His Adoption Book, and He’ll scroll is finger down the page until He finds your name. He’ll look up, He’ll smile at you, and He will say “Welcome home, My child.”

And you’ll be in your Forever Family.
